


Advanced Workshop: Split Grade Printing
Learn the magic of Split Grade Printing in the darkroom! This advanced process gives you the complete control over the full tonality within a black and white print and lets you perform local adjustments such as dodging and burning to refine contrast further to your liking.
What you will learn:
The overall process and method to make archival prints using the Split Grade Printing method of darkroom printing.
How to dodge and burn your highlights and shadows independently of each other.
Archival Process: Steps necessary for proper washing and creating a final archival print
During the workshop we will make (2-3) final prints from negative(s) of your choosing.
What you will need:
Previously developed black and white 35mm film or medium format film.
Previous basic knowledge of black and white darkroom printing.
8×10 Ilford Multigrade Fiber paper is included in the workshop, if you would like to print larger you will need to bring your own paper. Only Multigrade Fiber papers are acceptable.
Printing workshops are typically held on weekends and are 3-4 hours long. After payment, I will reach out via text message and email to coordinate the date/time and provide our exact address. $250 per person, max 2 people per session.
